The most important thing is to take the time and make sure it's thoroughly mixed with your lotion before applying. I've found the best moisturizer to mix the light with for my face has been Michael Todd moisture lite lotion and the best results for my body is by mixing one pump each 50/50 Neutrogena Body Lotion Light Sesame Formula along with Hempz lotion per leg. I do think that the type of moisturizer used has a lot to do with application results. I've never had any streaking or blotches. I ordered according to my skin color/tone. I honestly think the light gives a better glowing tan. I bought the light for my face and the medium for my body. I look like I have a light golden brown tan all over! My face has a natural sun kissed glow. This product though!!! I mix 2/3 drops into my face moisturizer once a week after a shower and 4 drops on each leg and 3 on each arm. I've always used Bondi Sands or Tarte with hit & miss results. When I'm in the sun I never tan I just turn a flushed red. Wonderful! I am a ruddy skinned 50/50 Irish, Italian girl. It's nice that this is small and I could travel with it easily which I couldn't really do with St Topez size.

I may use a few additional drops in the summer but doubt I would use 12. it lasts almost a week for me, then per my usual self-tanning routine, I exfoliate & apply again. the color is not orange and looks like a pleasant glow. I washed my hands after and didn't have any problems.

The first day I used 4 drops and the next day I did 5 per leg and about two pumps of lotion. The color developed evenly throughout the day. I used it after showering and exfoliating. I suspect the type of lotion used to mix the drops might cause it to work better or worse. I used Eucerin lotion, added 4-6 drops for each leg and it came out great. I was using St Topez and I do like it but it's not really customizable and goes on with a bronzer. Great customizable color, no smell I have olive skin and only use any self tanner on my legs due to veins (I'm over 50:-).
